For the past two weeks it has all been about "Space". I just figure that out. The common thread of my lfe that I've been dealing with has been about "SPACE" in one form or another. In this case the DVD collection has become disorderly. It has closed over the 600+ mark, and this doesn't count the Blu-ray, Video Games and Computer Games that all seem to be coming in those DVD-type cases.

I've been moving everything that can go into these slim cases. It's a big project, but it cut the DVD space in half, effectively doubling my storage space. When I'm done I should have everything in a boxed set or a slim DVD case. It's a little expensive, but better choice than having binders filled with DVD I can't see.

Meet my latest addiction.

I've been using Netflix for the past 2 weeks. I've been scoffing at the monthly fee. Why pay $10-20 a month for movies I can get for a $1 at Mr. Movies? Now I know. I can now find all the old films the local video store doesn't carry, along with the current releases. I know it doesn't sound great, but I watch the first two season of MI-5 and a ton of other movies that I could never find here or at Best Buy. So the fee has paid for itself this month.

The other neat thing is I can watch movies and show on my computer when ever I want. So what you say? Remember the 52 inch mind bomb? I hook Mandi into it about the second day I got my Sony toy so I could watch stuff off my hard drive. Now I can run Netflix from Mandi and see it on the TV which is very KEWL.

My latest obession.

I've been look for some more Anime to watch and possibly pickup something new for the MORGA group at the college. When a complete series, Gunslinger Girl catches my eye. Normally, I don't buy Anime DVDs because each disc only has 1-4 episodes at a $20 price. That's about 80 to 90 minutes of content. If you are lucky you get some decent extra content. Also most Anime strikes me as juvnille. This set was 325 minutes for $30, 13 episodes on 3 discs, all of season 1.

OMG. This stuff is great. Go out and buy it now, while BEST BUY still has it on the shelf. It's like Dirty Harry meets the Bionic Woman meets Ghost in the Shell and it's set in Italy. I've gone through the whole set in 2 sitting. Each girl has their own story to tell and they are not boy-crazed idiots either.

The next day I go to Waldenbooks, Barnes and Noble, Prairie Lights and Daydreams to find the Manga the series is based on. I find issues all except volume 2. The books are great too! And Surprise, Surprise... The first season DVDs just cover the first volume! I can look forward to see more of this great stuff!

I may have to start a pull list at Daydreams.

The Real Mans Christmas Canon of Films


I grew up watching the smae TV shows each Christmas: Rudolf, Frost the Snowman, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Etc. These are the Children's Christmas Canon. Now that I'm older I have notice it is not Christmas unless I see the Real Man's Christmas Canon of Films.

Not that I think of death and destruction all the time. Theses film are set during Christmas and get aired this time of year. Go figure.
