Today was the first day that staff and faculty were back at college and on the clock. We had a motivational speaker. He was pretty good. Anyway one of the things he said that strikes me as profound was: "When an old person dies it is like a library burning. Once gone it is gone it is gone forever."

I lost three of by grandparents by the age of four. I don't not remember them. My Grandmother died in 1996. For the last ten year she was barely coherent. I miss her.

Right now, I'm trying to get my mom to compile all the recipes she know that are my favorites. Do something with your parents and grandparents before you run out of time.

I use to do a lot of genealogy work on my family, but it got depressing. I could feel the time slipping away. Even talking with my Dad, I realize there is so much he wants to tell me and how little time there is. Have you had the burial chat with your parents yet?
