I have a thing for names. A name is a powerful thing. It says alot about you even before poeple have met you. I can tell how I will relate to someone just base on their first name. I don't judge people because of that, but I have found certian patterns in my life and in the people I meet.

As a teacher I run across new names all the time. This year I've run into Amanda, Emily, Mirandi(Miranda) by the scores. It's funny in the 80's and 90's poeple were looking for unique names and everyone picked the same one. I can't wait until I see the Umas, Ashtons, and other pop stars to showup.

I met a mother ( a student of mine) who name her son Gage. I only heard of one Gage before so I asked her where she got her son name from. Gage was the name of the little boy in Stephen King's Pet Cementery! The boy who gets killed by a car then is buried in the Native American Burial ground and comes back from the Dead! Great...I'd pay money to be around when the kids is old enough to ask where his name comes from. Great name, but I'd think up a different story to tell my kid.
