Book #17: The Harlequin By Laurell K. Hamilton

I forgot to put this book on my library reserve list, so when it was still on sale I bought it. I'm glad I did. Unlike the Porn FEST of the last three books Ms. Hamilton has a story to tell. Where as the last three books were over a few hours, this one moves time along quite nicely. I still want Anita to shoot something and Richard so needs an ass kicking, but everything is getting better. Ms. Hamilton has put in a few lines that I really got a kick out of and makes me want to make a few comments.

"I was dating, at last count, six men."

I have always thought that there had to be only a handful of active women in any group and all the guy were with them. Recent experience has convince me this is the case. Anita's statement just brings the point home.

"Riddle me this: Why is it that there is never a line for the men's room, but the women's always seems to have one?"

Short Answer: Urinals
Long Answer: Most public bathrooms are the same size with room for 3 to 5 stalls. Sometimes there are fewer stalls in the men's room but the space is used the put in urinals. One stall space can be replace with one to two urinals. That give men at more options for using the bathroom, and standing up just makes everything go faster. I'm sure a urinal cost less than a stall. A really good architect can take this into account and make the women's room bigger with more stall, but that rarely happens. So ladies next time that happens feel free to just hope into the men's room. If anyone gives you guff, just tazer them.

"It reminds me of when you game and you had to send the Paladin around the hill so you could loot the dead"

I so love this references and it's so true.

My hold at the library finally came through this week, and I am about a third of the way through. I am also thrilled that there's actual plot going on.

BTW, the library is already taking holds on A Lick of Frost. I'm number four.

I'm much happier with the way the Merry Gentry story arc is going. There is still sex, but can understand trying to get an heir before you race dies out.
